How Green is Your Lawyer? Doing our Bit for our Environment

Here are a few of the ways in which we try to reduce our footprint…

• We cancelled our bottled water order last year in favour of filtered water from taps throughout the buildings… although the sparkling variety is still available for visitors!
• Instead of paper or plastic cups we use glasses and our famous branded coffee mugs - bearing the firm's logo and a new take on the message because legal matters.
• We include – and obey – a ‘Don’t print unless you really need to’ statement on all our emails. 
• Our firm policy is to re-use printed non-confidential sheets as scrap paper, and then recycle, with bins located on each floor.  Silverman Sherliker’s indoor clerk Greg Pearce reports: “Between November 07 and October 09 the firm recycled 2,875 kg of paper, which is the equivalent of 4,000 kg of CO2 – or 42 trees!”
• Co-founding partners Jonathan Silverman and Chris Sherliker have long since ditched gas-guzzlers and each drive a Smart.  Chris explains: “It would be nice not to have to use a car at all, but the Smart is great for getting to client meetings all over London as it can be parked anywhere and is incredibly fuel-efficient.”  Jonathan added: “It's a pity that I haven't yet persuaded Boris to make them congestion charge free but the sheer ease of nipping through heavy traffic and parking in tiny spaces combined with the fuel economy makes driving Smartie a real joy”.
• The firm implemented a bike scheme last year and several members of staff now arrive on two wheels.
• We are currently researching the possibility of installing solar panels on the roofs of the buildings.
