Silverman Sherliker recently played a key role in preventing the sale of two 14th century panels, stolen from an Italian church more than a century ago, that were due to be auctioned by Christie’s in London.
Valued at £100,000-£150,000, the panels were part of an altar screen painted by 14th century master Abruzzi in the 17th century church in Italy, at the foot of the Apennines to the west of Rome.
