From Name Plates to Stationery: Dos and Don’ts for LLPs
 |
LLPs
As an LLP, you are required to display your LLP name outside all offices and places of business, even if it is the residency of an LLP member. Remember the name must be painted or affixed clearly and legibly.
When it comes to office materials, the LLP name and registered office must be clearly displayed on all business stationery. This includes all business letters and order forms, all notices and official publications (like this one), all bills of exchange, promissory notes, endorsements, cheques and orders for money or goods requiring signage by or on behalf of the LLP. That also goes for all bills of parcels, invoices, receipts and letters of credit and on all the LLP’s websites. |
The actual information that needs to be displayed is the place of registration, for example, ‘Registered in England’, the registered number and the registered office address in legible lettering.
Limited Companies
The rules are rather similar. You must display your registered name at your registered office and place of inspection, as well as at any place where the company conducts business. The exception is if that location is PRIMARILY used as living accommodation, for example, the company owner’s address.
You must also display your registered name in the company business documents and correspondence, both in electronic and hard copy formats. Your company name, number, place of registration and your registered office address must also be displayed on all business letters, orders and websites.
If you have managed to check everything on this list, then you have nothing to worry about. If not, do something about it now!
