David and Goliath – Silverman Sherliker on David’s Side
 |
Silverman Sherliker are involved in a hard-fought ‘pro-bono’ case that has been reported in ‘Private Eye’.
Our client, an ex-serviceman, had been employed as a caretaker since the early 1970s by the City of London.
He had a good record, and had lived with his family on the estate he looked after for many years. He was well liked and respected by the tenants.

Unfortunately, there was a problem family where he lived. Our client was one of their targets, and false allegations were made against him. Our client did not receive the support he deserved from his employer and unfortunately suffered several serious nervous breakdowns.
Matters came to a head two summers ago, when the problem family was involved in a disturbance. Our client was not involved. In fact, he was not even physically present at the disturbance, and yet he was suspended from work as a result. He took sick leave and did not return. He was threatened with dismissal by the City of London.
Martin says: “It is a particularly distressing case and we have been very pleased to assist on a pro bono basis. We have managed to keep him his job and his house for over a year.”
The case has been reported in Private Eye and will, we anticipate, receive further news coverage in due course”. |
